Early Years Provision

Our Early Years Setting provides a nurturing, vibrant and welcoming environment for children taking their first steps into school life.  We strive to enable children to learn with a smile and make sure to celebrate all the children’s successes, be they at school or at home.

From September 2025, we will be offering children the opportunity to join our Nursery Class. This is for children who have turned three years old prior to September 2025.  We believe this will provide an ideal opportunity to start their journey at Heathfield House School.  We hope that you will wish for your child to continue with us through our Reception Class and beyond to experience the excellent educational experience that we offer. However, for parents that wish to join in Reception this is still an option.

Children may attend full-time, or parents can choose the sessions they require with a minimum attendance of five morning sessions per week.  We offer the universal 15-hours Early Years Funded Entitlement (EYFE) and the 30-hours funding for those parents that are eligible.

At Heathfield House School, we follow The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) in Nursery and Reception. We believe this provides the children with the skills necessary to have the best possible start to their educational journey. The Nursery and Reception curriculum is carefully planned to ensure children make the progress parents seek whilst allowing children to learn through play. Through play based and adult supported learning children make progress academically, socially and physically.

The teaching ethos in our Nursery and Reception Classes is topic-based offering numerous opportunities for the children to be creative and inquisitive in a variety of ways. Focused based tasks ensure children have a solid foundation in which to build their future learning. The children are encouraged to discover, question and enjoy their learning in order to gain a solid foundation in every area of learning and become independent pupils.
